Dear Prospective Volunteer,
Thank you for your interest in the Armed Forces Service Center (AFSC).
Please take a moment to review this letter then, click on the
volunteer application at the bottom of this page. Be sure to
complete all the information requested on the application, to
better assist us in matching your preference with the shifts
available.
The AFSC is always looking for volunteers (over age 21) that are
able to commit
to serving those who serve for at least two -- four hour shifts
a month. Our greatest need for volunteers is from 8:00 PM to
Midnight, Midnight to 4:00 AM, and 4:00 AM to 8:00 AM. We also
have some day shifts (8:00 AM - 4:00 PM) available on a
bi-weekly basis.

age requirement for volunteers. If you are between the ages
of 18 - 21 and interested in volunteering at the Armed
Forces Service Center, please complete and submit the
volunteer application."

The orientations meeting are held on a monthly basis. The
AFSC Orientation Coordinator will contact you via email to
schedule your class.
Given our space limitations, we can only accommodate 8
prospective volunteers per meeting. To better assist you in
serving the various needs of our military guests, you will be
scheduled for three training shifts. Upon completion of your
training shifts, you will be paired with an experienced
volunteer for six months,
If you are looking to complete a short-term community service
court requirement -- the AFSC is not
set-up to accommodate this type of obligation, based on our
training process.
New volunteers interested in serving as a troop greeter can
apply for this program after six months of volunteer service due
to, the security badges required.
We kindly ask all volunteers to arrive 10 minutes prior to their
shift to be briefed by the previous shift. A volunteer name
badge and timecard will be placed in the middle desk drawer for
your convenience.
To make sure your arrival at the MSP Airport is not stressful
... complimentary parking is available to AFSC volunteers that
are "scheduled" for a shift in the center (or an orientation
meeting) only. Please be sure to bring your parking ticket to
the center for validation.
Parking & Directions (short
term parking for orientations ONLY) - As you
approach Terminal 1- Lindbergh, follow the signs to "short-term"
parking. Park in the GREEN ramp (section "P" mezzanine level).
Take the skyway into the terminal and make a right on the
mezzanine. Then, proceed down the carpeted corridor to the Armed
Forces Service Center.
If you are unable to attend your volunteer training shift,
please contact the office at (612) 726-9156 .... Monday thru
Friday during the hours of 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Please direct all volunteer inquires to the office (not the center).
